It happens every morning on trains and buses as we make our way to work. We see women passengers rubbing their faces with a finger as they try to make that foundation sink into the skin before the next stop. So here in beauty hack before 30 we show you the hacks to know…
Some do it in the car: quickly, a few drops of foundation on one finger, rub them into the skin, fast and furious, before the light turns green. All this because they rushed out the door rather than spend an extra 10 minutes at home doing their make up properly.
If that sounds like you, then do stop, please! Far from making yourself look younger (except for the next few hours), you’re slowly, but steadily speeding up the ageing process.
The skin on our face, and particularly under our eyes, is very sensitive. Stretching it with your fingers or makeup brushes and sponges will wear down its natural elasticity. Soon it will start to sag. At first those lines will be fine, but they’ll get deeper and there’ll be more of them.

Beauty Tip to know before you’re 30
The sooner you drop the bad habit and get into a routine where you only ever touch the skin under your eyes extremely gently. Use the tip of a finger – the younger you’ll look for longer. That’s perhaps the most important beauty tip to know before you’re 30.
It will stand you in good stead. And by the time you’re 40 or 50, even older, you’ll be eternally grateful to your younger self for getting into a good beauty routine.
How to improve the Skin under my Eyes
Hindsight is indeed a wonderful thing – or as the Danish philosopher Soren Kierkegaard once said: life is best understood backwards but it must be lived forwards.
Now, at the grand old age of 40 ++ I appreciate that beauty tip given to us students at a top London beauty college in the 1980s: never rub the skin under your eyes.
Instead, when applying concealer, foundation or moisturiser, dab it on to your skin with the tip of your ring finger using feather light touches. Keep dabbing lightly until the foundating is even – don’t “spread it” with your fingers, but let it sink into the skin.
If it takes a little longer, then let it – it’s worth it. And your face is worth it. I’ve followed this tip ever since beauty college and it works. Treating your skin gently contributes enormously to your skin retaining its elasticity for longer and in stopping those fine lines becoming ridges prematurely – very Beauty hack before 30.

What exactly is the Skin under my Eyes?
Our skin has several layers, each of which has a specific function: they are called the epidermis, which is the one that renews itself constantly and contains the elsaticity which is so important when it comes to looking youthful, the dermis which holds sweat glands and hair follicles and the hypodermous which features fatty tissue.
The skin under our eyes is particularly sensitive – it protects and nourishes the eyes… It’s considerably thinner than the rest of the skin on our face and has many blood vessels.
And because of constant eye movement such as laughing, squininting and inserting contact lenses and/or eye drops, that skin is particularly exposed and should be protected – the younger we start looking after it the longer it will look fresh and make us look younger too.
